(Psyllium Husk Powder)

Whole Wheat Psyllium Husk Bread

Ingredients:

  • 250 g whole wheat flour

  • 250 g all-purpose flour

  • 2–3 tablespoons psyllium husk powder

  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast

  • 300 ml warm water

  • 2 tablespoons honey or unrefined sugar

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients: Combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, psyllium husk powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. Activate the yeast: In warm water, add the honey or sugar and stir until dissolved. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

  3. Combine: Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture, add the olive oil, and knead until smooth and elastic (about 10–15 minutes).

  4. First rise: Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 1 hour, or until the dough doubles in size.

  5. Shape: Punch down the dough, then shape into a loaf or place into a bread pan.

  6. Second rise: Let rise again for 30 minutes.

  7. Bake: Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 30–35 minutes, until fully cooked and the crust is golden.

  8. Cool: Let cool before slicing and serving.

💡 Tip:
Psyllium husk helps keep the bread soft and moist, preventing it from becoming dry. For extra fiber, you can add flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, or chia seeds. Perfect to enjoy with salads, soups, or spread with mashed avocado for a healthy meal.
